2017 at the Erie Insurance Arena and UPMC Park through the Eyes of the Assistant Operations Manager

Hello and Happy New Year! I’m Ed Snyder, the Assistant Operations Manager at the Erie Insurance Arena and UPMC Park.  It is an exciting time at Erie Events.  After hosting nearly 200 total events at Erie Insurance and UPMC Park in 2016, we look to continue with excellent events in the New Year.  Here are a few things to look forward to in 2017.

The Erie Otters are continuing to build on their past success as they look to make a strong push to the 2017 OHL Playoffs. There are plenty of chances to catch Arizona Coyotes prospect Dylan Strome, Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Taylor Raddysh and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Alex DeBrincat before the playoffs begin in March.

The Erie BayHawks are hitting the heart of their 2016-17 schedule. The BayHawks schedule includes match ups against some of the brightest future stars of the NBA as well as some great promotions.  Be sure to come out see the NBA D-League affiliate of the Orlando Magic before their season wraps up in early April!

There are great family shows coming to Erie Insurance Arena in 2017. Disney on Ice returns January 19-22 with “Dream Big.”  Characters from Disney classics such as Beauty and the Beast, the Little Mermaid and Frozen will take over the ice!  The Harlem Globetrotters also return to Erie Insurance Arena on January 31st.  In their 91st year, the Globetrotters continue to provide exciting family fun on the court and in the stands.

Relive the 1990’s at I Love the 90’s on February 17th at the Erie Insurance Arena.  Vanilla Ice, Tone Loc, Coolio and Salt-N-Pepa are set to perform all of their classic hits!  The following week, Thomas Rhett will take the stage at Erie Insurance Arena.  Rhett won the 2016 CMA Single of the Year Award for the song Die a Happy Man.  This country music superstar is sure to entertain on February 24th.

It is never too early to think spring! With pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training in a few weeks, Opening Day at the newly renamed UPMC Park is right around the corner.  The AA affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, The Erie SeaWolves, will start their 2017 campaign at home on April 6th against the Trenton Thunder.

It is important to recognize the hundreds of employees at UPMC Park and Erie Insurance Arena that make sure patrons have a great experience at our venues. From the building staff that changes the arena from hockey to basketball to concerts, to the grounds crew that prepares the field everyday regardless of the weather, they work diligently behind the scenes to ensure the venues are ready to go. Their hard work and dedication allow the SeaWolves, BayHawks, Otters and Erie Events to provide the Erie community with world class sports and entertainment.

Be sure to stay up to date by following Erie Events on social media and visit the calendar page of erieevents.com. Tickets for all upcoming Otters, BayHawks and arena shows can be purchased on erieevents.com.  SeaWolves tickets can be purchased at seawolves.com.
