Renovations Complete at Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel

Recently, the Sheraton Erie Bayfront completed a $2 million soft renovation of the hotel.  Renovation of the facility was required after seven years in operation in order to keep the property consistent with the superior reputation of the Starwood brand.

Funding for the project came from the Hotel’s “Fixtures, Furniture and Equipment” reserve account, which was created specifically for renovation purposes. The Erie County Convention Center Authority owns the hotel which is operated by White Lodging and asset managed by HVS Hospitality.

Erie-based company Perry Construction Group Inc. was the general contractor on the project. The group was assisted by subcontractors C.W. Beal Inc., Foulks Flooring America, Church and Murdock and JH Bennett Moving Company. Design work was done completely by Pittsburgh-based DRS Architects.

The four month renovation process included upgrades to all facets of the hotel, including: 200 guest rooms, corridors, elevator landings, the club lounge, presidential suite, Bayfront Grille, bar, lobby, front desk and public restrooms. Local artist Brian Pardini added some finishing touches.

A special component of the renovation, which can be enjoyed by all local residents and guests, is the extension of the Bayfront Grille Patio, one of Erie’s few restaurants along the waterfront. With the expansion, the patio has doubled its capacity, and can seat upwards of 130 guests and also features a new fire pit and signature cocktail bar.

Also included in the renovation was a revolving door at the hotel entrance. The door was installed to better control the climate in the hotel lobby during Erie’s winter and summer months.
