From the desk of Rachel Libra, Bayfront Convention Center Event Coordinator:

Hi there! I was born and raised in Erie, PA and am a 2013 Penn State Behrend graduate who was lucky enough to immediately begin my career in 2014 at the Bayfront Convention Center as a part-time Event Coordinator. A year later, I was promoted to a full-time position.

My typical daily duties are to communicate with our client’s via email, telephone or in person to discuss and confirm all details of their specific event. After gathering additional information, I create floor plans to assure everything needed for each event fits within their space. I also enter the detailed information into our event software which helps streamline business. Another part of my job is to provide menu tastings so our clients can experience firsthand what the BCC has to offer. Over the past year, I have learned it is important to be thorough when entering information in our events software so the information is communicated properly to ensure employees can perform and execute to the best of their ability to satisfy our clients.

The Bayfront Convention Center is a great place to work. We have the ability to accommodate any type of event, plus we have a beautiful view — what’s not to love?!  Our building provides us the opportunity to host a diverse list of events which makes my job so fun! I have detailed a variety of events from the UFO Convention, Regional Cancer Center’s Spa Day, numerous holiday parties and the Back to School Expo just to name a few! My favorite part of my career is seeing events come to life from beginning to end while interacting and meeting different people regularly!
