Hello again — from the desk of Lisa Di Luzio — Director of Marketing and Sales at the BCC! We have had many unique and extraordinary events pass through the BCC since last I wrote. An annual and personal favorite of mine is the Hamot Gala. This year was special because Hamot celebrated their fifth gala Great Gatsby style. There were gold hues adorning the tables and walls and framed quotes from the novel decorating the ballroom and intimate settings. In fact, Gatsby and the roaring twenties seem to be a prevailing theme this year. From prom ideas to wedding inspirations, the BCC has maintained the Gatsby atmosphere. I have even witnessed some of our employees switching to pearls for accessory.
Intermitted throughout this Gatsby theme, we held consumer shows. Consumer shows provide the added benefit of bringing the public into our venue, allowing them to experience what I sell on a daily basis. The consumer shows we have held so far include, but are not limited to, gymnastic, sport and travel, the American Kennel Club, and the auto show, which sported an amphicar! The diversity of the BCC is evident in our consumer shows alone. However, we also provide ample convention space.
The BCC’s two major conventions held so far were the Garden Club Federation of PA and the Brownfields Engineers Society of Western PA. Conventions stretch our market beyond Erie and bring people across North America into our community. And with the conventions, comes our opportunity to help fill the Sheraton and the Courtyard by Marriott, which will provide a new and welcomed challenge to my team.
Always looking forward to what is ahead!
